The world of automobiles has been quiet for the past few years after dealing with a damaging blow received due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, which tethered the production of new cars worldwide. However, now that the Pandemic is slowing down, the automobile industry is finally opening again.
Audi is changing things up as it brings to you the third of Audi’s ‘Sphere’ concept that looks like a minivan and comes equipped with all the luxury things. However, despite its minivan-like appearance, it is important to note that it's not close to being like a minivan. If you are interested in knowing more about Audi’s recent concept then keep reading because this article has everything you need to know.
The Audi Urbansphere
While this concept is said to look a lot like a minivan, it isn’t. The concept comes with a 396-hp electric powertrain and a 120.0-kWh battery pack. While its proportions and size may relate to that of a minivan, it has a short hood and comes with a swept-back windshield. The car is styled with glass and an upright tailgate. Also, given its more than average size, this car just might be the biggest one that Audi has released.
The Performance
This car is electric-based and it works on the VW Group’s PPE platform, which would lay down the foundation for the future Audi cars to come including the A6 e-Tron. This car’s battery measures around 120.0 kWh and its motor creates around 396 hp and torque of 509 pound-feet. The wheels sit at 24 inches, the suspension consists of the air springs, and, lastly, the rear-wheel steering system supports the improved mobility and maneuverability of the car.
Audi’s Audience
When it comes to Audi's Urbansphere, they’re open and transparent about the Chinese market and this concept shows that they have put their audience as their priority; these types of cars are much more popular in China than in the USA. The team at Audi has created this concept for the Chinese market and it looks like it may even be a great hit. However, even though this model may never reach the USA, it is still a great concept and shows the brand’s flexibility.
So, what do you think of Audi’s Urbansphere? Do you think it should be released in the USA?
