Mark Zuckerberg’s $100M Support Yacht “Wingman” Docked in Seattle

Seattle’s waterfront turned into an unexpected attraction this week after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s massive yacht “Launchpad” arrived in the city. The 387-foot vessel drew attention while passing through the Ballard Locks and entering Lake Union.

Yet another luxury ship quietly appeared nearby — the 262-foot support vessel “Wingman,” docked at Pier 90 in Smith Cove.

Unlike “Launchpad,” which attracted crowds and cameras around Lake Union, “Wingman” remained mostly unnoticed along Seattle’s waterfront. The vessel sat near terminals commonly used by large cruise ships, close to Expedia’s headquarters and visible from both the Magnolia Bridge and Elliott Bay Trail.

What Is “Wingman” Designed For?

“Wingman” serves as a support yacht, often described as a floating storage and transport vessel for ultra-luxury yachts. The ship carries equipment and recreational vehicles that may not fit aboard the primary yacht.

Its onboard features reportedly include space for helicopters, tender boats, personal watercraft, and heavy gear moved using a built-in crane system.

Originally known as “U-81,” the vessel was built in 2022 by Dutch shipbuilder Damen Yachtbuilding. Reports estimate its value at around $100 million. According to Superyacht Fan, the ship can host approximately 18 crew members and eight guests across four cabins.

Both “Wingman” and “Launchpad” are registered under the Marshall Islands flag. Large yacht owners frequently choose this registry because of tax and regulatory advantages linked to the region’s maritime policies.

Seattle Arrival Draws Curiosity

A security guard at the gated terminal confirmed that “Wingman” arrived earlier in the week. “Launchpad” entered Seattle on Tuesday afternoon. Crowds gathered around Lake Union to watch the larger yacht. Yet people walking and biking near Elliott Bay showed little interest in the support vessel.

The reason behind the Seattle visit remains unknown. During the trip through the Ballard Locks, a crew member reportedly said the yacht did not arrive for the FIFA World Cup. The crew member also mentioned plans to “come and go.”

The yachts’ arrival created discussion online because Meta recently cut nearly 1,400 jobs in the region. That timing increased public curiosity around the luxury vessels.

Recent reports show both “Launchpad” and “Wingman” still docked in Seattle. “Launchpad” continues drawing attention near Lake Union. Meanwhile, “Wingman” remains parked quietly at Smith Cove, away from most public attention.
